PM Modi warmly welcomed in Manipur, people hoped to restore peace from traditional dances

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the local people in Imphal during a visit to Manipur on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi reached Imphal after visiting Churachandpur, where he spoke to various ethnic groups and urged them to leave violence and work towards restoring peace in the state. He said that a new dawn of hope and faith is emerging in the northeastern state. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the state after caste conflict in May 2023, and has since been bored between Maetai and Cookie communities. This struggle has caused permanent harm to Manipur, obstructing its economy, disrupts its social harmony and destabilized its political landscape.

The people of the state performed traditional dance to welcome Prime Minister Modi while laying the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore in Chudachandpur. One of the traditional dancers hoped that Prime Minister Modi would bring further development in the state. He came in traditional costumes to welcome him.

We hope that Prime Minister Modi will bring further development in the state in future also. Under the focus of his government on inclusive and sustainable development, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the Manipur urban road and drainage and asset management improvement project costing more than Rs 3,600 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of five national highway projects over Rs 2,500 crore, Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project and working women hostels at nine places across the state.
