Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his United Kingdom (UK) counterpart Keer Starmer at Checkers Estate on Thursday. The Checkers Estate is the official residence of the British Prime Minister and is located 50 km northwest from London. Prime Minister Modi reached London for his two -day UK visit on Wednesday. This is the Prime Minister’s fourth visit to the UK. On reaching London, Prime Minister Modi posted on X and wrote that I have reached London. India, Britain signed free trade agreement
During the meeting with Prime Minister Modi’s Keer Starmer, India and Britain signed the historic Free Trade Agreement (FTA) after a three -year conversation. The two countries signed the FTA in May this year and 99 percent of Indian exports are expected to benefit from tariffs. In addition, it will also make it easier for British companies to export car, whiskey and other products to India. British Prime Minister Kir Starmar first appreciated the FTA and described it as a historic agreement. He posted the first ‘X’ on the day, a historic agreement with India means employment, investment and development in Britain. It creates thousands of British employment, opens new opportunities for businesses and puts money in the pockets of working people. This is our transformative scheme. After the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between India and Britain, the British Prime Minister Kir Stmper said that the agreement will bring great advantage for both countries. He said that this deal will increase the salary of laborers, improve the standard of living and will put more money in the pockets of working people.

Modi left for a four -day visit to Britain and Maldives on Wednesday. The two countries announced the conclusion of talks for the trade agreement on May 6. Both countries have also completed negotiations on double contribution conference agreement, or social security agreement. This will help Indian professionals working for a limited period in the UK to avoid double contribution to the Social Security Fund. In such business agreements, the two countries either eliminate the customs duty on maximum goods with mutual trade or reduce it significantly. These agreements also make the criteria to promote trade in services and bilateral investment.
