Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with French President Emmanuel Macron and exchanged ideas on India-France bilateral relations and early end of conflict in Ukraine. Modi said that he discussed important global issues with both sides, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, underlined the importance of early solution to the struggle and confirmed his commitment to peace and diplomacy.

Describing the talks as very good, Modi said that the leaders exchanged views on major regional and international developments and assessed the progress in various fields of cooperation from defense and space to climate action and technology. Modi said on social media, “There was a very good conversation with the President Macron. We reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation in various fields and evaluated it positively.”
He said that international and regional issues were exchanged with efforts to end the struggle in Ukraine quickly. India-France strategic partnership will play an important role in promoting global peace and stability. The White House also included Macron among the European leaders present during the talks with US President Donald Trump at the talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelancesi. This negotiation of Modi-Macron took place by the French President two days after the announcement of a plan to deploy “Assurance Force” in Ukraine at the Paris summit on Thursday.

According to France 24, President Zelancesi attended the Paris summit organized by Macron, while several leaders including British Prime Minister Kir Starmar attended it remotely. Prime Minister Modi thanked President Macron for accepting the invitation of the AI Impact Summit organized by India in February 2026 and said he was keen to welcome the French President in India. The two leaders agreed to stay in touch and work together to promote global peace and stability.
