PM Modi expresses grief on Karur Stampede, declared ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh for dead

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep condolences on the fierce stampede at the rally of actor-royalty Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu. 39 people died in this sad incident.

The Prime Minister said, ‘The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu is very sad. My condolences are with families who have lost their loved ones. I wish to provide them strength in this difficult time. I wish all the injured to get well soon.

PM announced compensation

Prime Minister Modi has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2-2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the families of every person killed in the incident. In this tragedy, the injured will be given Rs 50,000.

President and other leaders also expressed grief

Many prominent personalities including President Draupadi Murmu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have also expressed condolences on this sad incident.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Chief Minister M.K. Talked to Stalin and assured all possible central assistance to the state. Also, the Union Home Ministry has also sought a report on the incident from the state government.
