The news agency PTI quoted Aizawl officials as saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Mizoram and Manipur on 13 September. According to state government sources, the Prime Minister will start his visit from Mizoram, where he will inaugurate the 51.38 km long new Bairabi-Airang railway line.
PM Modi’s possibility of going to Mizoram and Manipur on 13 September
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to come to Mizoram and Manipur on 13 September. Officials gave this information in Aizawl. Prime Minister Modi will first visit Mizoram to inaugurate the newest Bairabi-Serang Railway. Several officials of the Mizoram government said that they had received information that Prime Minister Aizawl will go to Manipur, which will be his first visit to the state since the eruption in the state. He, however, said that he has not yet received a complete schedule for the Prime Minister’s visit. At the same time, Imphal officials could not confirm the tour.
Meeting convened to review the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit
Mizoram Chief Secretary, Raw Ram Meena, called a meeting with various departments and law enforcement agencies on Monday to review the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit. A statement said that various issues including security measures, traffic management, reception and decoration of roads were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting was also discussed to allow government employees, farmers and students of various schools and colleges to participate in the inauguration ceremony to be held at Lamol in Aizawl. The 51.38 km long railway line in the state is part of the ‘Act East’ policy of the center, which aims to promote contact and economic integration in the Northeast region. This new railway line will connect Aizawl to the rest of the country via Silchar city of Assam.
