Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 78th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva. He said during this time that this year the theme of the World Health Assembly is ‘a world for health’. It corresponds to India’s approach to global health. When I addressed this gathering in 2023, I talked about ‘Ek Earth, Ek Health’. Modi said that the future of a healthy world depends on inclusion, integrated approach and cooperation. The inclusion is at the core of India’s health reforms.

The Prime Minister said that we run Ayushman India – which is the world’s largest health insurance scheme. It covers 580 million people and provides free treatment. The program was recently extended to cover all Indians above 70 years of age. We have a network of thousands of health and welfare centers. They examine and detect diseases like cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. Thousands of public pharmacists provide high quality drugs at a much lower price than the market price.
He said that technology is an important catalyst to improve health results. We have a digital platform to track the vaccination of pregnant women and children. Millions of people have a unique digital health identity. It is helping us integrate profit, insurance, records and information. With telemedicine, no one is far from a doctor. Our free telemedicine service has enabled more than 340 million consultations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the health of the world depends on how well we take care of the weakest people. Global South is particularly affected by health challenges. India’s approach provides exemplary, measured and durable models. We will be happy to share our experiences and best practices with the world, especially with the global South. He said that the 11th International Yoga Day is being celebrated in June. This year its theme is ‘One Earth Yoga for one Health’.

Modi said that being from the country that gives yoga to the world, I invite all countries to participate in it. I congratulate the World Health Organization and all member countries for the successful talks of the INB Treaty.
