Instead, they can register themselves by downloading an app called ‘Khedo Punjab’ from their mobile. This information was given by Kartar Singh, Joint Director, Punjab Sports Department.
According to information, youngsters interested in various sports start playing inside the field, but the player needs a platform to hone his talent and bring it to the world. The irony is that in Mohali thousands of sportspersons organize games at their own level, but the money spent on these events has to be borne by the sportspersons out of their own pockets.
On the other hand, poor and middle class families do not encourage their gifted children to play sports as they spend huge sums on sports events. The talent of such players is not exposed to the world due to the expenditure incurred on sports.
According to sources, in view of the manner in which athletes have made India famous by winning medals at the international level in the last few years, various state governments have taken steps to increase the interest of youth in sports. Efforts have been initiated for this at their own level. Similarly, the Punjab State Government has launched an online app called ‘Khedo Punjab’. Joint Director Kartar Singh said that through this app any player from the entire district can register himself and inform us. After this, considering the talent of the player, the department will provide all the facilities that a player should get on the field.
