Shiromani Akali Dal leader Karnail Singh Pir Mohammad has resigned from the party. In his resignation, he has raised serious questions on the leadership of the party and its direction. He said that “Shri Akal Takht Sahib is supreme to us.”

In the resignation, Pir Mohammed raised the question as to why the Hukmaname of December 2 was not implemented as it was. He expressed displeasure at the fact that the Jathedars were sidelined after the formation of a seven -member committee.
He also mentioned that Harjinder Singh Dhami also resigned due to these developments. Calling unity, Pir Mohammad expressed dissatisfaction over the way the party leadership handled religious decisions and emphasized the need to unite the cult leaders.
