Delhi government launched ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ on Sunday. It is a special initiative aimed at providing free and convenient travel to women and transgender persons in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses. Under this new scheme, daughters, sisters and mothers above 12 years of age will now be able to enjoy free travel across the capital. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made this announcement on X Post.

CM Gupta said on Twitter that Delhi government has launched ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ for women and transgenders. Now, daughters, sisters and mothers above 12 years of age will be able to travel free and conveniently in DTC and cluster buses. The post further reads that this initiative is an important step towards making travel easier for women in Delhi, promoting the use of public transport and providing more facilities and respect to Nari Shakti.
Earlier, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Friday announced that the Delhi government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has taken a historic and important decision to recognize private unaided schools running in non-conforming areas of the city. According to a release, this is a long-pending reform that restores the constitutional right to education for thousands of children across the city. According to this decision, all private unaided schools which have been operating in non-conforming areas for a long time, but have not yet been able to obtain recognition from the Directorate of Education, either due to procedural reasons or due to the discriminatory approach of the previous governments, can now apply for recognition from the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi.

The online portal of the Directorate of Education opened on November 1, 2025 for submission of applications. All schools wishing to get recognition can apply till November 30, 2025. The release said that after the completion of the application process, the applications received will be scrutinized and thereafter the list of schools meeting all the prescribed criteria for recognition will be released. The Education Minister said, “For more than a decade, this issue remained buried in the files and children were deprived of their constitutional right to education. Previous governments showed favoritism, recognized a few and neglected many. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, we have ended this selective discrimination. This is not just administrative reform, it is justice for our children, fairness for our institutions and a real step towards democratization of education in Delhi.”
