Six people killed in San Remegio town

Six separate people were killed in the San Ramigio town, south of Bogo, including three Coast Guard personnel, a fire personnel and a child. The town’s deputy mahapour Alfi Rains told DizzedMM Radio Network without explaining how the victims died.

Rains appealed for food and water, saying that the water system of San Ramigio has been damaged by the earthquake. Martham Paullan, a 25 -year -old resident of the resort town of Bantayan, located near the center of the earthquake, reported that he was at the town’s square near a church, which was damaged by the earthquake.

He told AFP, “I heard a loud thunderous sound from the church and then I saw stones falling from the building. Fortunately no one was hurt.” “I was in shock and also in nervousness, but my body was not able to move, I was just waiting for the vibration to stop.”

A career living in Bantayan, Agnes Merza, said that his kitchen tiles were broken. 65 -year -old told AFP “It felt as if we all fall. I have experienced this for the first time. All the neighbors ran out of their homes. My two teenagers hid under a table because they were taught in the boy scouts.

The Sebu Provincial Government said that a commercial building and a school collapsed in Bantayan, while a fast food restaurant in Bogo suffered heavy damage. In a live video message on his official Facebook account, Sebu Provincial Governor Pamela Barikuatro urged the residents to “remain calm and go to open areas; stay away from falling walls or structures and to be cautious to the post -earthquake tremors”.

The USGS reported a 7.0 intensity, which was later reduced, while the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat to a tsunami from the earthquake.

Earthquakes in the Philippines are almost daily, located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, which is an arc of acute seismic activity extending from Japan to South-East Asia to the Pacific Basin. Most of the earthquakes are so weak that humans cannot be felt, but fast and destructive earthquakes come randomly, and there is no such technique available to estimate when and where they will come.
