New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Friday extended till March 17 the interim bail granted to Congress leader Pawan Khera in connection with his alleged objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kheda was arrested by the Assam Police in the case. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice J.B. Pardiwala’s bench adjourned the hearing till March 17 due to paucity of time.

The bench said that the replies of Uttar Pradesh and Assam were not on record and it would hear the petition after the Holi vacation. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Assam government, told the bench that the state has filed its reply to Kheda’s plea and would like to argue the matter as and when the court considers it fit for hearing.
