Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Science and Technology Minister Pawan Kalyan has appreciated and rewarded the efforts of 17 -year -old Rajapu Sidhu who has made an electric bicycle to solve the problem of his daily movement. Sidhu, an intermediate second -year student of Jadawari Kothavalasa village in Vijayanagaram district, made a battery -powered bicycle using a saving of Rs 35,000 and technical skills learned at the Atal Tinkering Laboratory in the school. The purpose of this invention was to reduce his daily travel expenses of 60 rupees per day and reach his college in Rajam on time.

The Deputy Chief Minister invited him to his camp office in Mangalagiri. There, Pawan Kalyan personally tested the bicycle and interacted with Sidhu, and described this initiative as inspiring and purposeful. The Deputy Chief Minister said that we need to nurture young minds like him. Their vision proves that innovation requires intentions, not the lab, but intentions. Appreciating Sidhu’s efforts, Pawan Kalyan announced an incentive of Rs 1 lakh to promote his future innovations. He also assured continuous support through the State Innovation Council.

Sidhu’s e-cycle can run up to 80 kilometers once charged 3.5 hours, reach a speed of 25–50 kilometers per hour, and has a hub motor, three gears and one back seat. This has reduced their daily travel cost to only Rs 6. In addition to his e-bicycle, Sidhu presented the idea of a community service, a grocery guru, which is a very local distribution solution for rural areas. Officials indicated that their proposals would be considered for guidance and possible expansion through state -backed programs.
