Sanjay Kumar Jha, Minister of Water Resources cum Information and Public Relations, Government of Bihar, on Sunday assured to ensure proper security of Darbhanga Airport and Air Force Station from floods and water logging and to introduce the passengers arriving at Darbhanga Airport from India and abroad to the art of Mithila. For this, the site inspection of the works being done by the Water Resources Department was done. On this occasion, he gave several necessary instructions to the departmental officers including completing the remaining works of the last phase of the scheme in the next 15 days.

Anti flood sluice gate was also constructed

Sanjay Kumar Jha said that the Water Resources Department has strengthened the protective ring dam around Darbhanga Airport and Air Force Station premises for proper protection from flood and water logging and a new dam has been constructed in its 95 meter gap. A total length of 11.84 km PCC road has been constructed on this ring dam and paver blocks have been installed on its slope of two km length. Along with this, an anti-flood sluice gate has also been constructed to ensure drainage of rain water from the airport and air force station premises and protection from water logging. Most of the works of the scheme have been completed.

10 big inscriptions of Mithila art are also being installed

Sanjay Kumar Jha told that 10 big plaques of Mithila art are also being installed by the department towards the main gate of the airport to introduce the passengers arriving at Darbhanga airport from country and abroad to the art of Mithila. Tableaux based on the life of Mother Sita have been presented on seven inscriptions, including Sita Janam, Phulwari, Vivah Panchami, Doli Kahar, Agni Pariksha etc. The tableaux of Radha-Krishna, Krishna-Sudama and poet Kokil Vidyapati have been shown on the remaining three inscriptions. Saplings are also being planted along with these plaques.

Instructions to complete the remaining works within 15 days

During the site inspection, the minister directed the officials of the department to complete the remaining works of the last phase of finishing within 15 days. It is notable that the work of these works was also started by Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha on April 30, 2022.

Security of airport and air force complex will be better

Sanjay Kumar Jha said that there used to be a situation of water logging in the Darbhanga airport complex during the monsoon season. There was a fear that water might not reach the runway. If this happens, the operation of the planes would have been disrupted. He is happy that the work of strengthening the Ring Dam of the Water Resources Department around the entire Air Force Complex including the airport and the construction of a metalled road on it is almost complete, with the aim of ensuring safety from floods and water logging. He said that the construction of a metalled road on the Ring Dam would also help in patrolling the entire Air Force complex, which would further improve the security of the airport and the Air Force complex.
