The monsoon session of Parliament will start from July 21 and end on August 12, 2025. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday. After a gap of more than three months, both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha sessions will be called on July 21 at 11 am. Rijiju said that the dates of the session have been recommended by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
The budget session began on 31 January and ended on 4 April, when both houses were postponed indefinitely, which was the conclusion of the first Parliament session of 2025. The announcement has been made by opposition leaders amid a demand for a special session to discuss Operation Sindoor, a recent military exercise in which India targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. Responding to these demands, Rijiju said that according to parliamentary rules, all issues can be raised during the monsoon session.
The date of the monsoon session has been announced at a time when the opposition leaders are currently insisting on calling a special session of Parliament to discuss ‘Operation Sindoor’. ‘Operation Sindoor’ was a military operation against terrorists. Under this, India attacked 9 terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, India had made accurate attacks on terrorist bases in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ late on 6 May. Pahalgam had killed 26 people in the terrorist attack.
