Panic due to minor fire near Rashtrapati Bhavan, major danger averted due to prompt action

A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official said a fire broke out in a building near Gate No. 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday afternoon, following which officials took immediate action. According to officials, the fire involving household items on the ground floor of the two-storey building was reported at 1:51 pm. He said that a minor fire was reported from the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex. Fire was reported in flat number 19 of Narmada Apartment and gate number 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The fire was brought under control at 2:15 pm. Five fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot and the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, the official said. There is no news of any casualty in this incident.

The DFS officer said that we sent five fire engines to the spot. The fire was brought under control by 2:15 pm. Earlier, officials said on Tuesday that seven people were rescued after a fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden area on Diwali night. Information about fire in a residential building located in Mohan Garden was received by PCR at 9.49 pm. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, “A total of seven people from three families were rescued from the building, of which four were rescued by the local police with the help of nearby people with the help of ropes before the fire department arrived.” He said that the remaining three people were taken out of the house by the fire brigade personnel.

The DCP said that those rescued include Harvinder Singh (34), his wife Priya (27), Virendra Singh (32), his wife Premvadha, Rakhi Kumari (40), their children Vaishnavi Sinha (15) and Krishna Sinha (10). Everyone survived safely.
