Pakistan opened fire in four areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan on Thursday also violated the ceasefire in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir for the second consecutive day.

Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that in Poonch Sixteen people, including three women and five children, have lost their lives. While 59 people have been injured.

Lance hero Dinesh Kumar (32) was martyred in firing in Poonch. He was a resident of Palwal, Haryana. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi paid tribute to Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar.

The Indian Army said- We are standing in solidarity with those innocent citizens who have been victims of attacks in the Poonch sector. The nefarious intentions of our enemies will also be demolished further.

Several houses caught fire due to shelling in Karnah sector of Kupwara district. Amidst tension, many people from Akhnoor region left their homes and moved to safe places.

Pakistan’s shelling damaged the houses of common people. Shailesh Kumar, a resident of Rajouri village, said- We left our house in fear and ran away at night. Two buildings were damaged. Two shells fell at my house too. So we ran away from here. The entire village was deserted and some people took their animals with them as well.

Balakot, Mendhar, Mankot, Krishna Valley, Gulpur, Karni and Poonch, adjacent to LoC, fired with cannons at the district headquarters. This damaged dozens of houses and vehicles.

Emergency vehicles kept on alert in Uri

Shabir ul Hasan, Fire and Emergency Officer in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, said, “Five vehicles have been kept on alert due to heavy shelling in the area. Emergency vehicles have been called from Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore and Pattan. We have a foam tender, five water tenders and five firefighting vehicles.

All hospitals, police and administration in the state are on alert mode. DC of the border districts, along with all senior administrative and police and district officials, reviewed the situation of the border districts of the state. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also talked to all the District Deputy Commissioners and asked to ensure the safety of the people living in the border districts.
