The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday evening arrested a Pakistani intruder after crossing the international border in Amritsar district of Punjab. The incident took place between stressful relations between India and Pakistan, when India started operation vermilion and destroyed terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. Significantly, this action of India was taken in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocent citizens were killed on 22 April. A BSF spokesperson said that the soldiers saw the action of a person, who had crossed the international border and started going to the border fence. The spokesperson said, replying promptly, the soldiers challenged him to stop and later caught him.

The spokesperson said that the Pakistani citizen was caught from the border area adjacent to the village of Karimpura in Amritsar. He was later handed over to the local police for further investigation. Earlier this month, BSF killed a Pakistani intruder along the international border in Punjab. According to officials, the person was shot in Ferozepur sector on the night of 7-8 May. Officials said that he was found deliberately crossing the international border in the dark. The body has been handed over to the Punjab Police.

It is worth noting here that the Border Security Force has resumed the formal evening return on the three joint posts (JCPs) on the Punjab border from Tuesday. BSF’s Betting Retreat Celebrations on Attari-Wagh, Hussainiwala and Saadki Joint Outposts (JCP), also known as the flag unloading, which was suspended on 9 May due to Operation Sindhur, will start again at 6 pm today. From Wednesday, the ceremony will be opened to the general public, which symbolizes the return of general status at these major border points. Retreat celebrations are a popular attraction displaying India’s military discipline and cultural pride, which is conducted jointly at border points specified by BSF and their Pakistani counterparts.
