Officials also said that there were no candles or alternative power sources in the house and in October 2024, its electricity was cut off due to non -payment of bills. One of them said, “Humaira’s body is probably nine months old. His death may have occurred between the payment of his last electricity bills and his power being cut off in October 2024,” he further stated that there was no candle in the house. Another official said that the food kept in his house had expired months ago. “The jars were rushed and the food was expired six months ago,” he told. The post -mortem report done by Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiah Syed said that the body was “rotten very badly”, which was initially estimated that he would have died at least a month ago.

 

However, the investigation conducted on the basis of his call records and other evidence later indicated that he died in October 2024. “According to the call detail record (CDR), the last call was made in October 2024,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Asad Raza told Arab News. Neighbors also reported her to be seen around September-October. His social media activities had closed even before that, he had not posted any post from September last year. Earlier, the police had said that Humaira’s family refused to take his body. However, his brother, Naveed Asghar, has now reached Karachi to take the body in his possession.

 

DNA testing was done for verification, as the body was badly rotten and could not be identified. Naveed said, “We have come here and after meeting all the legal requirements, the body is obtained.” He told that Humaira had come to Karachi from Lahore about seven years ago and was away from the family, and rarely went to meet him. In recent years, she did not come home for almost a year and a half. Explaining the reluctance of the family earlier, he said, “That is why my father said that if there is an emergency, then you are there [कराची में] Can be buried. “He also asked if the landlord was questioned.
