A helicopter in Pakistan has crashed. A Pakistani Army helicopter crashed on Monday morning in the Thor Valley of Daimer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, killing all the five personnel aboard it. According to Faizullah Farak, spokesperson of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, the helicopter crashed during a test landing on a new proposed helipad in Hurdur village of Thor Valley. Two pilots and three technical crew members were killed in the accident caused by technical fault. Farak said in a statement that one of our helicopters crashed in Thor of Chillas. This accident occurred during landing due to technical fault.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Hameed, Dimeor, said that the helicopter was engaged in regular check -up at the time of the accident. He confirmed that five people including two pilots were reported to be casualties. Although initial reports suggest that the accident occurred due to technical fault, the exact cause has not been detected yet. On August 15 this year, another MI-17 helicopter crashed in the mohable district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This helicopter was engaged in flood relief operations and was reaching the affected areas, when it crashed due to bad weather. Five people, including two pilots, died in the accident.
There have been many helicopter cracks in Pakistan in recent years. On September 28, 2024, a chartered helicopter carrying oil company employees crashed after the engine failed during the flight in North Waziristan. The pilot attempted emergency landing, but his life could not survive. Earlier, six Pakistani military personnel lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Balochistan on 25 September, 2022. In the last few years, many such accidents have raised concerns about aviation security in the country.
