Pakistan Bomb Blast: Suicide car bomb attacker attacked school bus, five including three children, 38 injured

A suicide car bomb attacker in southwest Pakistan attacked a school bus, killing at least five people, including three children and injuring 38 others. Local deputy commissioner Yasir Iqbal said that the attack took place in Khujdar district of Balochistan province when the bus was taking the children to school. Officials said they fear that the death toll may increase further as the condition of many children is said to be critical.

The security forces immediately rushed to the spot and sealed the area, while the ambulance took the injured to the nearest hospitals. Local news channels broadcast scenes showing badly damaged buses and scattered debris at the scene. No group took responsibility for the attack immediately, but doubts are likely to be on ethnic Baloch separatist groups, which have a history of targeting both security forces and citizens in the region. The BLA has taken responsibility for most of the attacks in the province. In one of the most deadly attacks such, in March, 33 people were killed by BLA rebels by attacking a train carrying hundreds of passengers in Balochistan in March, most of whom were soldiers.

Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep grief over the death of the children and condemned the incident in strong words. Balochistan has long been the center of separatist violence and terrorist incidents. The recent attack in Khujdar is a second major attack in the area within a week, which has increased concerns about the security of the region.
