All three officers will take over from 1 May 2025.
There have been major changes in the Indian Army amid tension after the Pahalgam attack. Air Marshal Narmadeshwar Tiwari will be the new Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF). He will replace Air Marshal Sujit Pushpkar Dharkar on 1 May. Dharkar is retiring after a service of more than 40 years on April 30.
Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma has become the Northern Army Commander. He will replace Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar. The Northern Army of the Indian Army has the responsibility of protecting the Line of Control (LOC) in the west of Jammu and Kashmir and the China border from Ladakh in the east.
Apart from these, the new Chief of Staff Committee (CISC) will also be appointed in the Integrated Defense Staff (IDS) made for coordination of the three armies. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit will take over as CISC from May 1. He will replace Lieutenant General JP Matthew, retired on April 30.

- Since May 1, 2023, South has been holding the post of Commanding in Chief of Western Western Air Command (SWAC). Earlier, the Air Force Headquarters was the deputy chief of the Air Staff.
- National Defense Academy (NDA) graduated from Pune. President Gold Medal Winner at National Defense College Delhi. On 7 June 1986, a commission was received in the fighter stream.
- In a 37 -year career, there is more than 3600 hours of flying fighter jet. Kargil played an important role during the war.

Who is Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma
- Since 1 November 2024, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) has been held. On 19 December 1987, the commission was received in the Battalion of Madras Regiment.
- As Major General, he was appointed as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 25th Infantry Division.
- He took command of 80 Infantry Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also worked in the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO).
In 2021, Major General Prateek Sharma received a very special service medal.
Who is Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit
- Miraj-20000 is a pilot of fighter aircraft and currently leading the Central Air Command in Prayagraj. The National Defense Academy (NDA) is a graduate from Pune.
- On 6 December 1986, commission was received in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force. Many different fighter jets have taken over 3300 hours of flight.
- During the Operation Rakshak and Kargil War, the Operation has played active participation in many operations such as the White Sea.
In 2023, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit received a very special service medal.
