The Congress has opted out of the statements of party leaders on the Pahalgam terror attack. Congress is opposing statements by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Congress leader RB Timtwar, Vijay Wadettiwar, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Tariq Hameed Karra, Saifuddin Soz and Robert Vadra.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Monday, ‘The statements of party leaders are his personal opinion. This is not the opinion of the Congress party. I want to make it clear that no one has given these leaders the right to speak so.
He said- Our proposal in such sensitive time, what Kharge ji and Rahul ji said in all-party meeting and what AICC officials will speak will be valid. People keep speaking here and there, they should not speak. Leaders do not need to speak in sensitive times.
Here the BJP has targeted the Congress party. It is alleged that some people of the opposition party are speaking the language of Pakistan. Ravi Shankar Prasad said- The Congress is with all the decisions of the government, but some Congress leaders have made wrong and derogatory statements about the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
Statements of 7 Congress leaders
1. Robert Vadra: The terrorists hit the ID (identity card) of the people, because they (the terrorists) feel that Muslims are being suppressed in India. As long as the country is united and secular, our enemies will continue to take advantage of our weaknesses.
2. Mallikarjun Kharge: There is no need to wage war against Pakistan. He said yesterday, ‘Strict security measures should be started. We are not in favor of waging war. There should be peace, people should feel safe and the central government should ensure effective security system.
3. RB Timmapur: I think he did not ask about religion while he was attacking a terrorist attack. Even if he had asked, there should be no madness to use such a statement to politicize the issue on the basis of religion.
4. Vijay Vadetti: People are making different things in the Pahalgam attack. Terrorists have no religion. Someone has so much time to go to the ear and ask whether your religion is Hindu or a Muslim. The attackers from outside killed 27 people and left. Whether anyone asks or not to ask about religion, it is clear that their aim was to spread unrest in the country, incite violence between two communities and damage the nation.
5. Mani Shankar Aiyar: Till date we are living with the results of that partition. Do the unresolved questions of Partition show the terrible tragedy in Pahalgam on 22 April? Despite attempts to prevent partition, it was finally a difference in values about India’s identity and heritage among many Muslims, disagreeing with Gandhi, Nehru, Jinnah and other leaders.
6. Tariq Hameed Karra: India should talk with Pakistan.
7. Saifuddin Soz: The Indus Water Treaty is left from wars between India and Pakistan. This water treaty is a lifeline for Pakistan. If Pakistan takes the attitude that it does not have a hand in the Pahalgam attack, then we should accept Pakistan.
Nishikant Dubey asked- Siddaramaiah is a patriot or a traitor BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said- Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah is a patriot or a traitor, people should find out. I do not need to ask Rahul Gandhi anything, I trust my Prime Minister, Home Minister and Defense Minister. On the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Congress President Tariq Hamid Karra, he said- should we perform his (Pakistan) aarti. Pakistani will kill our people and we will perform their aarti.
Ravi Shankar said- When 26/11 attacked, we with the government Ravi Shankar Prasad said that I remember when 26/11, I received strict instructions from the party that I should take only one line- we are with the government. Even during an interview on an international channel, I said that it is not time to pay political accounts.
