BKU Ekta-Ugrahan: Strongly condemning the central government’s decision to reduce the remaining wheat rate by Rs 5.31 to Rs 31.86 per quintal on the pretext of tainted grains instead of giving full compensation for the reduction in wheat yield due to heavy rains/hailstorms. The Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) has announced a massive dharna in front of the DC offices on April 12, 13, 14 to withdraw this decision immediately.

The president of the organization Joginder Singh Ugrahan and general secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan have told about this that J-forms with a reduction of Rs. 37 per quintal are also being cut in many places. He said that in Mansa district, thousands of farm laborers, including hundreds of women, have staged a dharna in front of the DC office and in the next two days, dharnas will be held in all the districts.

Farmer leaders have alleged that this farmer-killing decision has once again revealed the farmer-enemy character of the central BJP government. Of course, the AAP government of Punjab has also played an unpleasant joke with the farmers by announcing the compensation for 75 to 100% i.e. complete destruction of wheat as only 15000 rupees per acre.

But the central government has also deducted the compensation from the loss rate fixed on the contrary. The compensation for this complete destruction caused by natural disaster is at least 50-55000 rupees per acre, in which the farmer is not even at fault. Instead of placing the burden of this disaster on the farmers who are already crushed under debts, the entire burden should be shared by the entire country through the government treasury, because the farmer is the breadwinner of the entire country.

According to the statement, the organization has also given an invitation to the agitating farmers to surround the officials who cut the J-form with rate reduction. The farmers’ leaders have alleged that by pushing the common farmers out of agriculture and eliminating the sources of employment, such decisions are being made against the farmers under the policy of establishing the corporate farming model. As a result of these policies, billions of people in dozens of countries around the world, including Pakistan, are suffering from hunger.

The farmers’ leaders have also told that if the voice of this three-day agitation is not heard, the agitation will be intensified in the next few days. He has invited all farmers, laborers and laborers to come to the field of struggle along with their families against these treasonous decisions.
