Omar Abdullah’s appeal to PM Modi: It will be very good if you visit Jammu and Kashmir!

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday that after reviewing the damage caused by Union Home Minister Amit Shah due to floods and landslides, it will be beneficial if Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visits the Union Territory. CM Abdullah said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already visited Jammu and Kashmir to assess the damage caused by floods. He also presided over a review meeting in Jammu. If Prime Minister Modi also visits Jammu and Kashmir then it will be very good.

Abdullah further said that we are feeling relieved that the central teams are visiting Jammu and Kashmir to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and landslides. Amit Shah was in Jammu from 1 to 2 September to take stock of the situation between heavy rains, cloudburst and landslides. He also met flood affected people in Mangu Chak village of Jammu. He inspected the Tawi bridge at Bikram Chowk, Shiva Temple and the houses damaged by floods in Jammu. The Center has released an amount of Rs 209 crore for SDRF.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Tharad village in Udhampur and reviewed the ongoing reconstruction works on National Highway-44. After a large-scale landslide caused by the recent heavy rains, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been completely closed for the last eight days. The Lieutenant Governor was informed about the deployment of personnel and machinery for early restoration of the National Highway by the Regional Officer of the National Highways Authority (NHAI), Jammu and Kashmir, RS Yadav. It was told that the team is working round the clock and will soon be opened for a lane traffic. The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with the affected families and asked for their well -being.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor visited the health camp organized by the Health Department at Gujjar Bakarwal Hostel in Jakhani, Udhampur and inspected the health facilities provided at the camp for flood affected families. MLA from Balwant Singh Mankotia, Chenani; Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA from Udhampur West; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Bhim Sen broken, IGP Jammu; Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Secretary, Health and Medical Education; Sara Rizvi, DIG Udhampur-Riasi Range; Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur; Amod Nagpure Ashok, SSP Udhampur and other senior officials were with the Lieutenant Governor.
