Bhubaneswar. At least four people were killed and four others were seriously injured in a blast on Monday in a house where crackers were being made illegally in Odisha’s Khurda district. Police gave this information.

The incident took place at Bhusandpur village in Tangi area, about 40 km from Bhubaneswar, when crackers were being made in a house for Holi festival, a police official said. The firecracker manufacturing unit was being run illegally in the house. He was completely devastated in the accident. He told that the fire department had to struggle a lot to control the fire and evacuate the people.

Four people died on the spot and four others were seriously injured, who are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Khurda District Magistrate K Sudarshan Chakraborty said that so far only one body has been identified.

He said, “Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the accident. No permission was taken from the administration to make crackers in the house.” (agency)
