US President Donald Trump claimed on 1 September that India offered to ‘zero’ all tariffs and said that ‘it is too late’ now. Trump also targeted India’s trade practices and described the long -standing economic relations as “completely unilateral disaster”. The Government of India has not yet reacted to his claim, in which he has clearly asked for a negotiation for the trade agreement between the two sides. This argument by US Finance Minister Scott Besant has barely come a week later that high tariff rates on India are “not only due to the purchase of Russian oil by India, but also on how long it has taken a long time for the trade agreement.

Trump said in his post on Truth Social that very few people understand that we do very little business with India, but they do a lot of business with us.
