North Korea tested two missiles capable of stopping air strikes

Between South Korea and the US annual military exercises, North Korea tested two new missiles capable of stopping airstrikes, demonstrating the country’s military strengths.

Country leader Kim Jong Un was present during this test. North Korea’s official news agency ‘Korean Central News Agency’ (KCNA) reported in its news that the test on Saturday showed that the missile drones and cruise missile attacks were able to deal with the attacks.

The news said that Kim Jong Un has also entrusted some “important” tasks to defense scientists before a major political conference to be held earlier next year. However, it was not informed in the news as to what kind of missiles were or where this test was done.

The test is held at a time when the new President of South Korea Lee Je Mung is on a visit to Tokyo for the summit. In this meeting, he pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and the tripartite partnership with the US to face shared challenges such as North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.

South Korea and the US started their annual joint military exercise ‘Ulchi Freedom Shield’ last Monday. This exercise is part of the preparations to deal with the dangers arising from North Korea rich nuclear-hostels.

South Korea and the United States say the practice is completely defensive, but North Korea has long been seen as an attack preparation and often tests weapons on such occasions.
