The world’s most powerful region has tasted India’s reply to the European Union. We are talking about Naira Energy and India’s retaliation that has forced Europe, EU to think. You will remember the date of July 18, 2025 when the European Union issued its 18th ban package against Russia. In this, especially Russian crude oil was targeted. But this time the EU adopted a new maneuver and it was said that if Russia oil is being refined in a third country and then the EU is being sent, then it too would come under the category of ban and on this basis they targeted India’s Naira Energy. The EU claims that Naira Energy does Russian crude processes. But the reality is that India is an independent, sovereign nation and it is a policy right to buy oil. Naira imports crude only for domestic needs. Not supplies to Europe. The EU treated India’s energy security like a collateral damage.

Let us tell you that Naira Energy is the same company earlier known as Israel Oil. Naira Energy operates oil refinery with a capacity of 2 million tonnes per year at the Wadinar in Gujarat. The company has about 6,800 fuel outlets across the country. Naira handles 8% of India’s total refining capacity and 7% of fuel retail network. Although the EU’s ban will be applicable from January 2026, India has already started retaliating. The EU felt that India would sit only by registering protests. But Naira Energy has made such a bet that the European Union cannot even imagine. Naira took out an export tender of Naughta cargo. This cargo was of 35 thousand metric tons. Which was to be sent to a country of EU. But Naira put two conditions in the tender. Either advance payment do or a liter of credit i.e. LC will not send two other goods.

When the EU company could not fulfill these conditions, Naira Energy canceled the tender. Not only this, after that tender, an oil major company in the middle East was sold to $ 2.5 to 3 prememum. That is, Europe has suffered a setback. India knows that two companies Reliance and Naira Energy may be affected more since the EU sanctions in 2026 are implemented. But both companies have already started running. Amidst an internationally increasing investigation, India-Russian Naira Energy has reiterated India’s energy future to the future with a large investment of Rs 70,000 crore in the Downstream infrastructure. Also, the company has strongly criticized the latest sanctions of the European Union and described them as harmful to India’s interests. The move, which has faced sharp reactions in India, also included the controversial Naira Energy in the 18th round of restrictions imposed by the European Union to clamp down on Russian crude oil institutions, which is a private Indian company and entirely under Indian laws. This decision has created widespread concern, and many people in India are seeing it as an encroachment, which is a threat to the country’s energy freedom and economic sovereignty.
