Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejashwi Surya on Tuesday responded to the post of a journalist on ‘X’, sarcasted the Karnataka government, highlighting the state’s financial situation. Criticizing the Congress -led Karnataka government, Tejashwi Surya said that the status of the contractors working in the state government is pathetic and the contractors are not only harassed for cut money, but they have been waiting for payment for years. The BJP MP insisted that Brihat Bangalore Metropolitan Municipality (BBMP) is in its worst position and no contractor is willing to work with the body.

No contractor is ready to work and do any work. They are also not coming forward to fill the pits. Municipal employees of corporations across Karnataka on Tuesday launched a symbolic strike against the state government seeking to meet various demands. The protest started this morning at Freedom Park in Bangalore. Employees of BBMP (Brihat Bengaluru Municipalities) along with employees of various municipal corporations across the state took leave from work to participate in the protests at Freedom Park here.

Ten municipal corporations remained closed today in the state. In addition, the employees took a collective holiday to participate in the protest. Employees’ demands include withdrawal of logsef attendance system, filling 6,000 vacant posts and “suspending employees for stupid reasons”. They are also demanding promotion to engineers on the basis of decrease in the number of marshals on duty and seniority.
