Defense Minister Rajnath Singh led the Telangana Mukti Divas celebrations at the Parade Ground on Wednesday, which was celebrated on the 77th anniversary of the merger of Hyderabad in the Indian Union. This day reminds the end of the Nizam regime and the success of Operation Polo in 1948, which brought the princely state under democratic rule. The program organized by the Central Government began with the national flag hoisting and formal salute by the Army, Navy and Air Force troops. Singh paid tribute to the military martyr memorial and paid floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a decisive role in the merger of Hyderabad. Senior BJP leaders including Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Kishan Reddy and captive Sanjay Kumar attended the occasion. The posters and banners installed at the venue highlighted the historical conflict and its importance in India’s nation building journey.
