The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids on 22 bases in five states and union territories – Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh under a major campaign targeting a suspected terrorist network related to Lashkar -e -Taiba (LET).The case was first reported by The Federal, which has made a significant progress in the ongoing investigation into extremist activities in India.

According to officials, this action is being taken in connection with the investigation of the case related to a terrorist conspiracy. According to officials, searches are being conducted at nine places in Jammu and Kashmir, eight in Bihar, two in Uttar Pradesh and one each in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. He informed that action is going on in Baramulla, Kulgam, Anantnag and Pulwama districts in Jammu and Kashmir. More information regarding this action has not been received yet.
Arrest of a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Tamil Nadu
These raids are associated with the case that caught the 22 -year -old youth Akhlatur Muhammad from Katihar district of Bihar on 26 April 2025 after arresting Akhlatur Muhammad from Katihar district of Bihar from Chengalpattu.
The painter Muhammad, who works on a daily wage, was allegedly plotting to target Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The NIA took an investigation into the matter on August 19, 2025, when it was revealed that Muhammad was in touch with Lashkar-e-Taiba recruitments and operators across the border through WhatsApp and other social media platforms. He had allegedly rescued 40 percent of his earnings to buy arms, which increased the concern about the financing of terrorist activities.

Coordinated terrorist network
The latest NIA campaign is based on intelligence connecting people from Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to a coordinated terrorist network. Sources indicate that the agency has identified several suspected extremists in Jammu and Kashmir, whose communication has revealed relations with people of these states. The purpose of these raids is to highlight evidence of fanatics, procurement of weapons and possible plans for terrorist activities.
The NIA has taken action after several high-profile operations in Tamil Nadu, including raids associated with the murder of Ramalingam, a Pattali Makkal Kachi (PMK) worker Ramalingam, associated with the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in August 2025. The agency has also taken up the investigation into the 2022 Coimbatore car bomb blast, highlighting the emergence of Tamil Nadu’s anti-terrorism operations as the focal point.

Officials have not disclosed specific details about the goods seized during the September 8 raids or the arrests made, but the scope of the campaign underlines the NIA’s commitment to eliminate the terrorist network.
