The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to the Maharashtra government and the state police chief after the report on Friday, stating that a 21 -year -old youth died in a village in Jalgaon district after allegedly beaten up.
The commission said in a statement that according to media reports, the victim was sitting with a young woman in a cafe who was from a separate community, when a group of 8–10 people surrounded her and started beating her after seeing a picture in her mobile phone.
The report said that the accused then rolled the young man on the streets of his village and then left him near his house in an injured state after being badly beaten. The Commission took self -cognizance on this media report and issued a notice.
According to the statement, the Commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and the Director General of Police in view of the seriousness of the case and sought a detailed report in two weeks.
