New wall in India’s sky, first successful test of indigenous air defense system

India has completed the first successful flight test of the integrated air defense weapon system (IADWS) developed indigenously, giving its defense preparations a new height. This important test was conducted on the coast of Odisha on August 23, 2025 at around 12:30 pm.

Announcing this achievement, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Armed Forces and Industry. He stated on X (East Twitter) that this test establishes multi-level air-defense capabilities of the country, which will strengthen the safety of important installations.

DRDO also shared a video of this successful test. According to DRDO, IADWS is a multi -layered defense shield, including three advanced indigenous technologies, quick response surface -to -air missiles (Qrsam), advanced over -short distance air defense system (VSHORADS) missiles and a high -power laser -based laser weapon (Dew).

These three systems are able to neutralize a variety of air threats, from drones flying at low altitude to high -speed enemy planes and missiles. This successful test is a major step towards India’s self -sufficiency in defense technology.
