The new rates for petrol and diesel have been released on Saturday, September 19. Today is the 14th consecutive day that petrol and diesel prices have remained unchanged.
According to oil marketing company Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Patrol in the capital Delhi Diesel is stable at Rs 101.19 per liter and diesel at Rs 88.62 per liter. In Mumbai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 107.26 and a liter of diesel Rs 96.19. Of the four major metros (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai), Mumbai is the most expensive.
In other metros, petrol is priced at Rs 101.62 per liter in Kolkata while diesel is priced at Rs 91.71 per liter. In Chennai, petrol and diesel are priced at Rs 98.96 and Rs 93.26 per liter, respectively. Petrol is above Rs 100 in all the three metros except Chennai. Domestic fuel prices are determined on a daily basis keeping in view the international crude oil prices and rupee fluctuations. Local tax and VAT rates vary from state to state. Due to this, petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state.
