In a major success for the security forces, 37 Naxalites surrendered and returned to the mainstream in Dantewada on Sunday. 12 women are also included in the surrender. According to the police, a total reward of Rs 65 lakh was declared on 27 of these Naxalites.
Impact of ‘Rehabilitation to Resurgence’ campaign
Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai said that after the continuous operations and encounters, the Naxalites have taken advantage of the rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government.
All these Naxalites surrendered before the local police and CRPF officials under the ‘Poona Maragem’ (‘New Path’ in local dialect) initiative of the Bastar Range Police.

The ‘Poona Margame’ campaign provides complete support to those leaving militancy, from rehabilitation to joining the social mainstream.
SP Rai informed that a total of 508 Maoists have surrendered in the last 20 months. All the surrendered Naxalites will now move forward on the path of respect and development under the rehabilitation schemes of the government.
