Bodies of three girls were found floating in a pond in Simdega district of Jharkhand. Police gave this information on Monday. The incident took place in Nimtur village of Bano police station area. Police suspect that the girls, aged between five and seven years, entered the pond and drowned. Bano police station in-charge Manav Mayank said that the bodies were recovered from the pond late on Sunday evening. He said, prima facie it appears that the girls died due to drowning.

The real cause of the incident will be known after complete investigation and postmortem. The deceased have been identified as Premita Kumari (five), Khushboo Kumari (six) and Seema Kumari (seven). The family members of the girls told that they were not at home at the time of the incident. When he did not find his children at home when he returned home late on Sunday evening, he started searching for them.

During the search, a dead body was seen floating in the pond. He said that with the help of the villagers, the other two girls were also taken out of the pond and taken to Bano Community Health Centre, where the doctor declared them dead.
