Murali Vijay retired from international cricket

Indian cricket team opener Murali Vijay has retired from international cricket. He thanked BCCI, IPL Chennai Super Kings and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association through a social media post. Vijay started playing domestic cricket from Tamil Nadu.

He has Test centuries in England and Australia. Also, he has played many important Test innings in South Africa and abroad. Vijay made his Test debut for India in 2008. Since then he has scored 3982 runs for India in 61 Tests at an average of 38.28. Among them, he scored 12 centuries and 15 fifties. He also led India in 17 ODIs and 9 T20Is. He scored 339 runs in ODIs and 169 runs in T20Is.

He last played a Test match for India against Australia in Perth in 2018. In July 2015, he played the last ODI and T20 against Zimbabwe. He was also part of the team that won the Champions Trophy for India in 2013.

While opening for Team India, he played many important innings. Among them, the innings of 144 runs in Brisbane, Australia and 145 runs at the Trent Bridge ground in England were important. Murali Vijay has been playing in IPL since 2008. He joined Chennai Super Kings in the first season. He scored 2 centuries for CSK in 2010 and 2011 season. Chennai became the champion in both the seasons. Currently he is not a part of any IPL team.
