Son of Sardar, R. Actor Mukul Dev, famous for his roles in films like Rajkumar and Jai Ho, passed away on Friday night. He was 54 years old.
The cause of death has not been confirmed yet. The statement is awaited by his family or close colleagues.Actress Deepshikha Nagpal, who is her close friend, confirmed the news via social media. He shared an old picture with Mukul Dev on Instagram Stories, which said, “It is not sure. RIP.”

Actor-Host Mukul Dev died on May 24 at the age of 54. While the film industry and his fans are mourning his death, we are missing the incredible valor of his father Hari Dev Kaushal, who was a police officer living in Delhi. It was officially announced in 2024 that a film would be made about him. For those who do not know, Hari Dev Kaushal belonged to a reputed group of police officers who were known for their remarkable expertise and compassion. The person who was called Panditji died in 2019 at the age of 91 in 2019.Mukul is survived by his daughter Siya Dev.

Mukul started his acting with the 1996 film Dastak. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and wrote it by Vikram Bhatt. In this film, he played a negative role of ACP Rohit Malhotra and he got recognition for his performance in this romantic drama. Apart from Mukul, the film also stars Sushmita Sen, Sharad S Kapoor, Bhavna Dutta, Vishwajit Pradhan, Anda Apna’s actors Tiku Talsania and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles.
In his acting career for more than two decades, Mukul has worked in many Bollywood films, television shows and regional cinema. He is known for his work in films like ‘Jungle’, ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’ and ‘Indian’ in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Significantly, not only Bollywood, but also Dev was active in regional cinema, especially in Punjabi and Bengali films. Mukul also worked with prominent Bollywood celebrities like Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgan in the 2012 film Sun of Sardar. He was also seen in the lead roles with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Dharmendra, Puneet Issar and Anupam Kher in the 2011 comedy-drama film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’.
He was last seen in the 2023 film ‘Sarabha’, in which he played the role of ‘Harnam Singh Tundilat’. The film was written and directed by poet Raj and it also stars Mahavir Bhullar, Kavi Raj and Ankur Rathi in lead roles. The film’s IMDB rating is 8.9.
