MPs’ salary increased by 24%: Every MP will now get Rs 1.24 lakh; Pension of former MPs increased to 31 thousand

There are 542 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 250 in Rajya Sabha.

The central government has issued a notification on Monday to increase the salary of MPs by 24%. Since 1 April 2023, the salary of Members of Parliament has been increased by 24% on the basis of the Cost Inflation Index (Cost Inflation Index).

According to this, the current members will now get salary of Rs 1.24 lakh per month. Earlier, he used to get 1 lakh rupees per month.

Daily allowance and pension have also been increased. The daily allowance has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. The pension of former MPs has been increased from Rs 25,000 per month to Rs 31,000 per month.

Extra pension received for members who have been MPs for more than five years have also been increased from Rs 2,000 per month to Rs 2,500 per month.
