MP Amritpal Singh’s parole application was rejected, the decision was taken on the basis of the recommendation of the Amritsar administration

The Punjab government has rejected the parole application of Lok Sabha member Amritpal Singh due to which he will not be able to participate in the winter session of Parliament. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the Punjab government to take a decision in a week on the petition filed in Amritpal’s parole case on November 21, and the Punjab Home Department had sought a report from the District Magistrate Amritsar and the District Police Captain under the orders of the High Court.

The Amritsar administration recommended to cancel the parole application, on the basis of which it has been decided not to grant parole to Amritpal Singh. Official sources confirmed this.

It may be mentioned that the winter session of the Parliament is being held from December 1 to 19, in which Amritpal Singh had filed a petition in the court through his lawyer. According to information, a case of Amritpal Singh is under hearing in the Supreme Court as well. Amritpal Singh has been detained in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act since April 2023 and he also won the Lok Sabha election from Khadur Sahib constituency during detention. On 4 June 2024, the results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced, but so far he could not participate in any session of the Parliament.
