Monsoon rains havoc in Northeast India, more than 25 people died, Assam affected the most

Five killed in Assam, landslide orgy in Guwahati
The situation in Assam’s capital Guwahati is particularly serious. Due to the landslide here, many houses were buried in debris, causing five people, including three members of the same family, died tragically. This tragedy occurred when heavy rains submerged the city completely, causing the hills and slopes to be extremely weak. Local authorities have again issued a warning to the citizens and advised to live in safe places.

Apart from landslides, floods in other parts of the state also killed three more people. These include two deaths in Golaghat district and one in Lakhimpur district. Seven killed in Arunachal Pradesh
Seven people died due to floods in Arunachal Pradesh, when a vehicle was washed away in flood waters. In addition, two people drowned, causing the death toll in the state to nine. Eight people have also died in Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya, causing the total number to 17. Officials say that these deaths have occurred due to sudden floods and landslides due to continuous rains.
Daily life stalled in Manipur
The three days of rains in Manipur have stalled daily life in the capital Imphal. There are reports of waterlogging in many parts of the city, due to which the authorities have issued flood warnings and urged to evacuate the residents.
More than 1000 tourists trapped in North Sikkim
About 1,500 tourists are stranded in North Sikkim, as the main road has been blocked due to landslides. In addition, one person died and eight others went missing after a vehicle collapsed in the Teesta River in Mangan district.
Indian Meteorological Department issued warning of heavy rain
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains in the Northeast region. Red and orange alerts have been issued for parts of Assam, while orange and yellow alerts have been issued for the rest of the North Eastern region.
Rescue operation boom
Relief and rescue operations in flood affected Assam have intensified. NDRF, SDRF, teams of police and fire services have taken residents to safe places. Educational institutions remained closed in two districts and flight operations at Guwahati Airport were disrupted. Relief and rescue operations are also going on in Arunachal Pradesh. The administration and disaster management departments are assessing the loss and providing immediate assistance to the affected families.
