Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi is not desisting from his actions. Now the PCB Chief has done another stupid thing regarding the Asia Cup trophy. Firstly, instead of handing over the trophy to the tournament-winning Team India after the final match on September 28, he brought it with him to the ACC headquarters. After that, now reports are coming that they have removed the trophy from the ACC headquarters and kept it at some unknown place.
Let us tell you that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian team had not joined hands with the Pakistani team in the Asia Cup matches. Team India won the title by defeating Pakistan hard in the final match of Asia Cup on 28 September. After which the players of Team India refused to accept the trophy and medal from Naqvi.
Naqvi also adopted the adamant stance of giving the trophy himself instead of getting the trophy from the officials of the UAE Board or any other Asian board. After which Naqvi stole the trophy. He reached his hotel room with Team India’s trophy and medal. This has rarely happened in the history of cricket when instead of giving the trophy to the winning team, someone shamelessly kept it for themselves.
When the Indian Board took a strong stand against Naqvi’s lowly actions, he agreed to hand over the trophy but kept the condition that it would be taken from his own hands. Any BCCI official should come along with the captain of Team India or any player and take the trophy.
News agency ANI, in its report, has quoted a source as saying that the Asia Cup trophy is not at the ACC headquarters in Dubai. The report further states that, a few days ago, an official of the Indian Board had visited the ACC headquarters. When he inquired about the trophy at the ACC office, the staff told him that it had been removed and the trophy was now in the possession of Mohsin Naqvi somewhere in Abu Dhabi.
