There has been a tension between India and Bangladesh since Yunus took power. Mohammad Yunus recently said during his visit to China that India’s Northeast is landlocked and does not have access to the sea. Bangladesh is the main door of the region to reach the sea.
S Jaishankar said- Bangladesh is just looking at its advantage
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday responded strongly about Yunus’s statement. Jaishankar said India’s costline is 6,500 km long. We not only share borders with five countries of Bimstec, connecting them among themselves, but also acts as an interface between the entire Indian subcontinent and Asean. Our Northeast area is emerging as a connectivity hub for Bimstec. A network of roads, railways, waterways, grids and pipelines is being prepared here.
Jaishankar said,

We believe that cooperation is a broader thing. It is not possible that you talk about your benefit, ignore the rest of the things.
