Modi-Palaniswami met for the first time after the electoral alliance, stir in the politics of Tamil Nadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tiruchirappalli after inaugurating projects worth about ₹ 4,900 crores in Tuticorin on the night of 26 July. At the airport, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi’s Palaniswami welcomed him warmly. During this time there was a brief conversation between the two leaders, which was their first meeting after the election alliance between AIADMK and BJP in April this year.
This meeting is important in many ways. While AIADMK claims that it will win a majority in the 2026 assembly elections and form the government on its own, the BJP says that if the NDA wins the election then it will be part of the government. In such a situation, this meeting is considered important for future political equations.
