JerusalemPrime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday discussed ways to strengthen the “close and important” ties between the two countries. During this, he expressed his desire to further deepen cooperation in the fields of technology, economy and security.

This was the second phone conversation between the two leaders after Netanyahu returned to power in December last year. Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that the conversation lasted for about 20 minutes.

“The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the close and important ties between Israel and India,” a PMO statement said. “The two leaders expressed their desire to further deepen cooperation between the countries in the fields of technology, economy and security,” the statement said.

In a conversation on January 11, Modi congratulated Netanyahu on being sworn in as prime minister and stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries. Netanyahu (73) was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Israel for the sixth time on December 29 last year. During the last conversation, Modi had invited Netanyahu to visit India at a mutually convenient date. (agency)
