Bureau Report: Tarn Taran SSP Gurmeet Chauhan’s fallout with AAP MLA Manjinder Lalpura from Khadur Sahib cost him dearly. After the MLA’s open warning to the SSP on social media, the government has removed Gurmeet Chauhan. In his place, Ashwini Kapoor has been appointed as the new SSP of Tarn Taran. As of now Gurmeet Chauhan has not been given a new posting.
Disturbed by the SSP, the MLA wrote a social media post
MLA Manjinder Lalpura wrote on social media, “SSP, I had said that you are involved with bus thieves, but now it is known that you are also a coward. For the rest of the night, wait for the policemen you sent to answer what they have done to my relatives. The rest of you sent a message from the CIA that if the gangsters took action, many families of MLAs would have been destroyed, I agree, I am sending my police security back to you. You have free time to get me done, the rest of the family is equal to everyone. At night, your CIA officer Rajya kept saying that I give 25 lakhs a month to the SSP. That’s when I said why have you placed this big drug addict on the chair of CIA. The rest of you who kept on beating me and saying should you take the name of MLA, I have that deed of yours too. I welcome your false papers against my relatives. They are wise-hearted who have taken out their enmity with someone else. You keep your chair aside, I have seen my MLA’s chair again. I still say today that there is no work in Tarn Taran police without money. But we have to do it.”
SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan had said that I cannot answer any of the allegations leveled against me by the MLA. He had said that only seniors can say something about it. On the arrest of the MLA’s relative, the SSP had said that the police had received a tip-off at night that illegal mining was going on in Bhel Dhaiwal. In which 13 people including MLA Gurmeet Singh’s brother-in-law Nishan Singh were arrested. The police also seized 9 tippers and an Innova vehicle. Apart from this, a motorcycle and a poop line machine were also seized. The SSP had said that it was a routine operation. There was no reason behind this.
