India on Friday advised its citizens to take “excessive vigilance” while finding employment opportunities in Iran. In recent times, there have been many cases of fake job proposals.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that recently there have been many cases in which Indian citizens were lured to visit Iran through false promises of employment or to visit Iran that they would be sent to third countries for jobs.
The ministry said, “On reaching Iran, these Indian citizens were kidnapped by criminal gangs and demanded a ransom from their families for their release.” The ministry said, “In this context, all Indian citizens are given strict advice to be highly cautious about such employment proposals.”
He said, “Especially noted that the Iranian government allows Indians to enter a visa-free entry only for tourism objectives. If any agent promises visa-free admission for employment or other reasons, it is possible that it has an alliance with criminal gangs.” The ministry said that Indian citizens should not fall under the guise of such proposals.
