To facilitate the journey during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced that metro services on Line 2A (Yellow Line) and Line 7 (Red Line) will run from 27 August (Wednesday) to 6 September (Saturday) from midnight.

Time extended for devotees
During the 10 -day festival, the final trains from Andheri West (Line 2A) and Gundavali (Line 7) will depart at 12 pm instead of 11 pm. This decision has been taken to meet the growing passenger demand as millions of devotees go out to visit Ganpati pandals across the city.
Route for major suburban centers
Line 2A (Yellow Line): Dahisar East ↔ Andheri West
Line 7 (Red Line): Dahisar East ↔ Gundavali, Andheri East
Both routes keep heavy suburban passenger traffic in mind, making them important to handle the crowd during festivals.

Currently Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) runs the following services-
Workday: 317 services (with a delay of 5 minutes 50 seconds in busy time and 9 minutes 30 seconds in non-distress time)
Weekend: 256 services (8:06 minutes in busy time and 10:25 minutes delay in non-distressed time)
During Ganeshotsav, trains will run more often in busy times and will maintain a 10 -minute gap on Sunday.

MMRDA chief Sanjay Mukherjee assured the passengers of safe and reliable travel, saying that trains will run more often, ensuring the convenience of citizens during the festivals. Rubal Aggarwal, Managing Director of MMMOCL, said, “Extended services will help Mumbai residents easily reach their favorite pandals without trapped in traffic.”
