What is the traditional process of choosing the Dalai Lama?
The selection of the new Dalai Lama is a sacred and complex process, based on the Tibetan Buddhist belief in rebirth. After the death of the Dalai Lama, senior monks seek signs, philosophy and omen. They study the direction of the smoke emanating from the cremation, consult the gods and explain the dreams. Often, the discovery focuses on the lhamo la-tso, which is a sacred lake, which is believed to provide philosophy about the location of the next rebirth. He was recognized and established as the 14th Dalai Lama, later named Tenzin Gyatso. But today there is a big challenge in repeating this process.
