Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker, plans to launch a five-door version of its off-road Jinny to compete with Mahindra’s Thar.
The 5-door Maruti Jini will be 300 mm longer than its smaller version and will have a 300 mm longer wheelbase. The length of the SUV Wheelbase Edition Length will be 3850 mm, width 1645 mm and height 1730 mm. It will be a 3-door SUV larger than the Sierra and weighs 100 kg.
The 5-door Maruti Jinni will offer the brand’s global design language and its design bits will be inspired by the new 3-door edition.
The interior of the new 5-door Jinny is expected to include multi-functional steering wheels, leather seats, updated instrument consoles, the latest smartphone connectivity with a touchscreen infotainment system, front and rear arts and more. Though there is no information about its engine setup, the India-Specter 1.5b natural engine is expected to come with 101bhp of power and 130Nm of peak torque.
